Abstract

COVID-19 has caused nationwide lockdown in almost all the countries on earth. This lockdown has caused unprecedented damage to worlds’ economy. On an individual level; it has affected one’s physical, mental, social and economic conditions. Education sector has faced tremendous challenges and undergone changes so as to reduce the impact of COVID lockdowns on students. Research students had different set of problems. Being deprived of basic necessities to the uncertainties of future job availability; they have seen it all. Very few data is available covering the plight of researchers. We have tried to compile and summarize various surveys conducted on research scholars to understand the factors affected the during COVID period. Most of the surveys reported the loss of financial stability viz research grant / fellowship; denial of basic access viz lab, library, internet; and affecting mental health. Due to all this they are now facing post-COVID challenges in motivating themselves to kick start their research again. But there are also small fleet of researcher who have benefited themselves from this lockdown by investing their time in personal wellness, learning new skills and gaining knowledge.
